Efforts to Preserve Bihar’s Cultural Heritage: High-Level Meeting of ‘Gyan Bharatam Mission’ Chaired by Chief Secretary
Patna | The state government has increased its efforts to preserve Bihar’s rich cultural and historical heritage in a modern form. In this regard, an important meeting of the high-level committee constituted under the ‘Gyan Bharatam Mission’ was held today at the Bihar Museum, Patna, under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Pratyay Amrit (IAS). The main focus of this meeting was to catalog, document, and digitally preserve ancient manuscripts available in various regions of the state.
The Chief Secretary directed that this work of preserving manuscripts is extremely important for our cultural identity and should therefore be carried out in a mission mode. He gave strict instructions to the officials that the National Manuscript Survey should be completed in the entire Bihar within the next 30 days at all costs.
The meeting reviewed district-wise progress, and directed all District Magistrates to accelerate this work by establishing better coordination with local cluster centers and independent centers.
To continuously monitor the campaign and formulate an effective strategy, it was decided that a special video conference would be held with all concerned officials and institutions on April 9, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
It was clarified in the meeting that the “Gyan Bharatam Mission” is crucial for the preservation of the state’s cultural and intellectual heritage. Therefore, all concerned departments and institutions were directed to make coordinated efforts and ensure the achievement of the goals within the stipulated timeframe.
The meeting was attended by Shri Anjani Kumar Singh, Director General of the Bihar Museum, Shri Pranav Kumar, Secretary of the Art and Culture Department, Shri Krishna Kumar, Museum Director of the Art and Culture Department, Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed, former Director of the Khudabaksh Library, Prof. Siddharth Singh, Vice Chancellor of Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, Prof. Vishwajeet Kumar, Dean, Department of Pali and Other Languages, Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, along with many other experts and senior officials were present.
