To strengthen pedestrian safety in rural areas, the construction of 26,031 zebra crossings has been completed so far in all 38 districts of Bihar. This initiative is being implemented on rural roads, especially near schools, hospitals, and other important places, prioritizing road safety to ensure safe public movement.
The Rural Works Department is taking continuous action in this direction, installing and strengthening zebra crossings at various locations as needed, to ensure safe pedestrian transit in accordance with prescribed standards. Additionally, to further enhance road safety, regular inspection and monitoring of installed zebra crossings is being ensured, ensuring the quality and long-term utility of the work.
To strengthen road safety on rural roads, zebra crossings and rumble strips are being constructed at identified high-speed and accident-prone locations to control vehicle speeds and ensure pedestrian safety. As a result of these efforts, road safety is being strengthened in the state, making travel safer and easier in both rural and urban areas.
