Banda (Uttar Pradesh): A sudden visit by District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP) to Banda’s Mandal Jail stirred up attention. The unscheduled arrival heightened tensions among jail officials. The unexpected arrival of the convoy led to heightened tension in the facility.
Upon their arrival, the DM and SP promptly conducted a thorough search of Mukhtar Ansari’s barrack, yet no objectionable material was discovered. During the visit, they meticulously searched Mukhtar Ansari’s barrack but found no concerning materials. Throughout their visit, they provided essential instructions to the jail administration.
The visit occurred around 11 am on Saturday when DM Durga Shakti Nagpal and SP Ankur Aggarwal arrived at the jail campus. They proceeded to inspect Mukhtar Ansari’s barrack closely and later conducted a comprehensive examination of the entire facility.
The inspection extended to various sections of the jail, including a meticulous review of the CCTV surveillance system for security purposes. Notably, Mukhtar Ansari, the prominent figure in the western mafia, observed the proceedings silently and helplessly.
As per the jail authorities, the DM and SP directed the installation of mesh in the jail’s hospital area and mandated sanitation in toilets and kitchens. They emphasized vigilance from a security perspective, urging continuous monitoring of individuals entering and exiting the premises. Any lapse in security will face strict repercussions, as emphasized by the officials.
Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma told media that the visit by the DM and SP was part of the monthly jail inspection routine. They thoroughly examined the entire campus, including Mukhtar Ansari’s barrack, where he remained observant but silent throughout the process.
Furthermore, the Superintendent mentioned the regular checks conducted and the absence of any objectionable material in the jail. Directives were issued for proper prisoner arrangements and measures to prevent diseases like dengue. Emphasis was also placed on maintaining cleanliness. After spending approximately an hour at the facility, both senior officers concluded their visit.
