Police pays emotional tribute to their companion dog Bella

Kolkata: Since the news of the death of Bella, a police dog in Thrissur AR camp came, the police camp is silent. Looking at the lifeless body of Bella under garlands, Jilesh, her handler could not control, but burst into tears.

Bella was an explosive detection dog in the K-9 police dog squad. She was suffering from pneumonia and jaundice for a week and was being treated at Kokala Veterinary Hospital and died on Sunday night.

Bella was taken care of for seven and a half years by Senior Civil Police Officer P.C. Jilesh. She joined the force in 2015 after nine months of training. Since then, Jilesh has been Bella’s handler. Jilesh was waiting for Bella, who was retiring from service after the age of nine, to prepare all the papers for permission to take her home.

Bella was cremated with official honours. State guard of honour was provided by army personnel and four sniffer dogs. She was cremated in the presence of Thrissur City Police Commissioner Ankit Ashok and A.R. Camp Deputy Commandant P.G. Ajay Kumar.
