Girl brutally attacked by mafia for passing info on drug sales, police refuse to act

Thiruvananthapuram: In a shocking incident, a girl in Kerala’s capital city was thrashed by the drug mafia for passing information on drug sales as per the direction of the excise department. The department, however, remained mere spectators of the incident, alleged the girl who sustained injuries in the attack.

According to reports, a man allegedly barged into the house of the school-going girl and attacked her for handing over information regarding drug peddling to the excise department. The girl and her younger sister have now stopped attending classes following the threat.

The ‘secret’ information was passed on to the excise department during an awareness session.  Excise officials conducted a raid in the suspected regions and irked by this, members of the drug mafia arrived at the complainant’s house and started attacking.

The girl sustained injuries on her back and ear while her mother’s hand was broken in the assault. The family sought treatment at Kanyakulangara hospital from where the authorities referred them to Govt Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram.
