Congress-RJD’s paths differ in Bihar? Won’t contest Legislative Council elections together
The paths of Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) now seem to be diverging in Bihar. Both the parties are facing each other in the Legislative Council elections to be held on 8 seats in the state. On Friday, Rashtriya Janata Dal announced the names of its candidates on 6 seats. The party talked about considering the names of candidates for the remaining two seats.
After this, Congress held a meeting at Sadaqat Ashram on Saturday. If sources are to be believed, the state leadership has made preparations to contest elections on all 8 seats. Candidates who were preparing for these seats were called, many teacher leaders are also included in them. The party is sending names of candidates for all 8 seats. The final decision on this will be taken by the central leadership.
As soon as the list of RJD candidates was released, the cracks in the alliance came to the fore. Congress spokesperson Asit Nath Tiwari accused RJD of not following the coalition dharma. He said that RJD has done the same in the last several elections. This step of RJD helps BJP. If you want to benefit BJP then make an alliance with BJP, otherwise come together and contest the elections. RJD also retaliated on this. Spokesperson Ajaz Ahmed said that RJD has always been fighting with BJP. That is why there are so many cases against Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav.
Due to lack of coordination between the two parties involved in the alliance, they had to suffer in the Rajya Sabha elections also. Then 3 Congress MLAs did not vote for Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Amarendra Dhari Singh. Therefore, despite having sufficient numerical strength, the alliance could not win even a single seat. Congress has one seat in the Legislative Council elections. Madan Mohan Jha is winning the election from Darbhanga teachers constituency. This time also his claim is strong but if RJD also fields its candidate on this seat then it will be difficult.
Names of candidates have been announced for 2 teachers’ constituencies, 6 graduates’ constituencies. Sanjeev Singh has been made the candidate from Patna teacher constituency, Jairam Yadav from Saran teacher constituency. Dilip Kumar from Patna graduate constituency, Nitesh Kumar from Kosi graduate constituency, Anil Kumar Jha from Darbhanga graduate constituency, Rashmi Gautam from Tirhut graduate constituency have been made the candidate. NDA and Jansuraj have not yet announced the names of their candidates.
