Congress leader Rahul Gandhi recently called on girls to break “patriarchy.” Allegations are being made that Rahul Gandhi only referred to Hindu women. The reason behind this is that he only cited Manusmriti to make his point. This prompted some Muslim women to reach the Congress headquarters and express their desire for the Congress leader to treat them with equal respect.
On Wednesday, a very strange situation arose at the Congress headquarters in Delhi. Some burqa-clad women held a strong protest against the Congress and Rahul Gandhi, questioning him for talking about women’s dignity and equality, but why he leaves Muslim women out and doesn’t include them in his speech.
A Muslim woman said, “There is only one reason for protesting outside the Congress headquarters. We want Rahul Gandhi to talk about giving us equal respect.” Ask them, you have a government in Karnataka, but there’s not a single woman minister there. …We just want to say that they shouldn’t misinterpret triple talaq.
Another Muslim woman directly questioned, “You (Congress) didn’t ask, ‘What did you do in 70 years? Where was Rahul Gandhi when triple talaq left women in limbo? …You talk about clothes, think about women, why aren’t you talking about their 33% increase in political participation? Why isn’t there a woman minister in Karnataka? Listen to the pain of us women for once.”
Indeed, on August 22, 2026, at the Congress’s “Chhatraon Ki Goonj” program held at a college ground in Pune, Rahul Gandhi attempted to mock Manusmriti and allegedly called on women to “break patriarchy.”
Since then, Rahul Gandhi has been facing allegations that whenever he gets a chance, he tries to target Hindus and Hindu religious texts and tries to avoid speaking on the flaws of other religions.
