Fourteen days have passed since the Monsoon Session of Parliament began. During this session, most days were marked by uproar. The opposition objected to the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, disrupting Parliament. Prominent opposition leaders, Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, and others, ridiculed PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, claiming they were completely afraid of the student protests and were not attending. Now, they have even begun demanding the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah and then Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing them of sabotaging the future of students.
While the opposition is happy to accuse PM Modi and Amit Shah, PM Modi and Amit Shah are busy carrying out their own work. Despite their absence, they are getting their desired bills passed in the House, such as Vande Mataram, the Taxation Amendment, Birth and Death Registration, and the Anti-Paper Leak Bill. Although PM Modi and Amit Shah are not attending the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, they are frequently seen discussing important strategies among themselves and with several NDA leaders in the Parliament House. In fact, PM Modi and Amit Shah are strategizing to get the Delimitation Act passed by the House during this Monsoon Session. Before doing so, they are working to defuse the public anger against the government due to the student protests, which could be leveraged by opposition political parties.
To this end, the duo of PM Modi and Amit Shah are also seeking to strictly enforce the FCRA (Foreign Rights Act) law governing foreign funding and to distance themselves from the prominent figures of the student movement, Abhijit Deep K and Sonam Wangchuk, especially from the Zen G, by holding them accountable for misusing foreign funding. Despite the government’s previous assertion that it was unaware of any foreign funding in the student protests, the government continues its efforts in this direction.
Suspected terrorists arrested in West Bengal and Punjab have been found to be directly linked to a larger conspiracy to infiltrate and incite violence during the recent student protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. According to security agencies and police investigations, the terrorist modules apprehended in these two states were operating at the behest of Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI, and organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). By taking action against this, PM Modi’s government is attempting to mitigate the embarrassment it has faced over the student protests.
Moreover, the government is also working to capitalize on the student protests currently underway in Ranchi over JPSC irregularities. A Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson is raising the issue with great seriousness. Congress, Samajwadi Party, Shiv Sena, UBT, and Mamata Banerjee all strongly supported the student protests at Jantar Mantar regarding the NEET exam, but in Jharkhand, where the Congress-JMM coalition government is in power, these parties have not supported the student protests against JPSC irregularities.
In other words, PM Modi and Amit Shah may not be attending the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha during the monsoon session of Parliament, but secretly they are first engaged in trying to end the embarrassment caused to the BJP by the student movement and then are deeply deliberating on how to bring a major bill, the Delimitation Act, to the Parliament and get it passed this time, so that the benefits of this new delimitation can be reaped first in the Uttar Pradesh elections to be held in 2027 and then can get a majority in the 2029 general elections.
