On Saturday morning, the West Bengal Police Special Task Force (STF) recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition hidden in a pond belonging to a TMC leader in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. Acting on information from a tip-off, STF investigators conducted a raid and search operation in the area on Saturday morning. During the search, officers recovered a cache of weapons from the pond.
However, the pond’s owner, TMC leader and former regional president of the party Robin Das and his brother Gopal Das, have fled the area. Investigators visited the Das brothers’ home in Sandeshkhali. They are reportedly close to the arrested TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan. During the raid, their home and the surrounding area were also searched. A large quantity of weapons was reportedly recovered. It is believed that these weapons were stored with the intention of inciting unrest in the area. As soon as the news spread, panic gripped the area, and a large number of people began to gather.
Central Police Force personnel were also present during this operation along with the STF. Following the recovery of the weapons, a massive search operation is still underway in the entire area. These two brothers have long been accused of atrocities against local residents. Police are searching for the accused TMC leader and his brother. Following the recovery of the weapons, the BJP has intensified its attack on the TMC.
Sajal Ghosh further stated that every day it is proving that they brought the state of West Bengal to the brink of destruction. If the election results had been different and the TMC had won, these weapons would not have been in the pond. Ordinary people would have been attacked with these weapons. I appeal to the government to not let these Trinamool leaders out of jail, even for a day, after their arrest.
