Did you know that after March 31st, you will no longer be able to obtain a PAN card using just your Aadhaar card? Starting April 1st, you will need to use both Aadhaar and a document confirming your date of birth to obtain a PAN card. CSCeGov posted this information on X. It states that old application forms for PAN cards will no longer be accepted from April 1st. Therefore, you can easily obtain your PAN card before March 31st. It’s worth noting that currently, only your Aadhaar card is required to obtain a new PAN card.
From April 1st, you will also need a document confirming your date of birth to obtain a PAN card. However, if you obtain your PAN card by March 31st, your Aadhaar card will be sufficient. Therefore, you can obtain your PAN card more easily.
How to Apply for a PAN Card
To apply for a PAN card online, first visit the NSDL’s official website.
Next, go to the ‘Apply Online’ tab on the website and select New PAN – Indian Citizen (Form 49A). Be sure to select Individual as the category.
Enter your personal information, such as your surname, first name, date of birth, email address, and mobile number.
Follow the captcha code and submit. You will receive a token number; note it down. Keep in mind that this token number is useful if your form remains incomplete for some reason.
Following this, complete the verification process using an OTP using your Aadhaar card. This eliminates the need to upload a separate photo or signature.
Following this, enter your father’s name, address, and other details. If you choose the e-KYC option, the Aadhaar address will be automatically captured.
Following this, pay the PAN card fee online.
Following this, perform Aadhaar authentication. An OTP will be sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. After entering the OTP, your form will be submitted.
According to a CSCeGov post on X, starting April 1st, a birth certificate, voter ID card, 10th-grade marksheet or certificate, driving license, a magistrate-certified affidavit, and passport will be required to obtain a PAN card. This means that, as is the case now, a PAN card cannot be obtained using just your Aadhaar card.
