Prime Minister Narendra Modi digitally launched projects worth ₹4,570 crore in the state’s Kokrajhar district ahead of the Assam Assembly elections. He launched a scathing attack on the Congress party. He said the Congress party endangered national security by handing over land belonging to indigenous people to infiltrators. He urged them to teach the Congress a lesson in the upcoming elections and send a clear message that there is no place for infiltrators.
Addressing the rally, PM Modi said that when you ousted the Congress from both the country and Assam and gave the BJP-NDA an opportunity, we began sincere efforts. While the Congress used to divide communities for its selfish political interests, the BJP worked for lasting peace. The Bodo Peace Accord was signed with this vision.
He said that this accord brought together all major organizations and groups for the first time. The Congress kept generations of Bodoland residents entangled in false dreams. The Congress governments in Delhi signed paper agreements merely for show. This entire region, including Kokrajhar, has endured and lost much in the past decades. We have witnessed difficult times when the sound of bombs and guns echoed in these hills, but today this scenario is changing. Today, Bodoland has embarked on the path of peace and development. Today, Assam is writing a new chapter of peace and development.
