Indian senior advocate Prashant Bhushan: This is a lesson for our Election Commission.

Senior Advocate Prashant Bhushan

Prashant Bhushan has posted a video featuring the Rawalpindi Commissioner, where he openly acknowledges the presence of election rigging. In the video, the Commissioner can be heard admitting to manipulating election results in favor of a particular candidate. This shocking revelation has sparked outrage and raised concerns about the integrity of the electoral process in Pakistan.

Following the general elections in Pakistan, the power struggle over government formation has escalated. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), led by imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has accused the elections of being rigged. These claims gained more credibility after Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha made a confession. Chattha stated that losing candidates in the city were declared winners, with 13 candidates from Rawalpindi being wrongly announced as victors. Moreover, during a press conference, Liaquat demanded a death sentence at the Chowk.

Indian senior advocate Prashant Bhushan shared Liaquat Ali’s video on Twitter, where they are asking for the death penalty. Quite a lesson for our Election Commission!

The claims were made by the Commissioner of Rawalpindi.

“The candidates who were losing the elections in the city were made victorious.” He alleged that 13 candidates were forcibly declared winners in Rawalpindi. Taking full responsibility for the malpractice, he mentioned the involvement of the Chief Election Commissioner and the Chief Justice. Following this, he resigned from his post due to the manipulation of election results. Subsequently, Liaquat Ali was arrested.

He expressed his regret for not being able to conduct the election properly and stated that he would be resigning as a result. He acknowledged the mistakes made during the election, including tampering with the results and using fake seals. He mentioned that his employees were upset when he instructed them to do unethical things. He believed that he deserved the death penalty in Rawalpindi, and suggested that the Chief Election Commissioner and the Chief Justice should also face the same punishment.
